e-Magazine app SCOOP is Now Widely Available for Android

Apps Foundry announced that its e-magazine app SCOOP is finally made it to Android, available for any device with at least OS 2.2 (Froyo). It’s a careful decision after the variant was made exclusively for Samsung tablets last year. After being in the spotlight as one of the most successful e-magazine app in Indonesia for iOS, it’s now Android’s turn to enjoy over 3,000 collections of magazines, books, and newspapers.

Contrary to iOS users, Android users aren’t sharing the same gene. They are not known for their willingness on paying for apps or other contents. Also the Google Wallet as the Android’s payment gateway isn’t as popular as PayPal (used by BlackBerry App World) or direct credit card usage (used by App Store). It’s one challenge that Apps Foundry must face, how it be able to “force” consumers to pay for things they’d like to read.

This move is predictable since the number of Android users in Indonesia is expanding in a very healthy growth. It’s said the Android users have grown exponentially — thanks to outburst of cheap $100-$200 Android phones. The app itself is working perfectly with outdated Samsung Galaxy Gio that’s currently in my possession.

SCOOP once again will with PhaseDev’s Wayang Force. The latter product has been in Android for a while and already received some positive receptions from its users.
