After launching Gojek Thailand in beta version, the startup led by Nadiem Makarim has made a strategic move. It involves collaboration with Japan-based retail group, AEON. The partnership is done for visitors to make grocery delivery order and non-cash payment in AEON mall.
Gojek services will be available only in AEON mall Indonesia, which currently exists in BSD City and Cakung, Jakarta.
As informed by Asian Nikkei Review, Gojek and AEON have started to implement a non-cash payment system in mid-December 2018. In addition, AEON also provides grocery delivery service for buyers by driver partners. At AEON mall, Gojek drivers will standby waiting for grocery delivery order.
AEON is currently building a new location in Sentul, it’s to be launched in 2019. AEON also plans to build another mall in Deltamas city, Bekasi. Overall, there will be three new locations in Indonesia.
Gojek collaboration with AEON will be available in all AEON mall Indonesia. The “fun for family” concept is presented with the domination of Japanese products and various fashion brands.
The Japanese retail is said to focus on regional business expansion with a value up to 83.2 billion yen to the current investment, the increase has doubled during 2017.
A similar strategic partnership has occurred before between OVO and Grab. In terms of non-cash payment, OVO is widely available in Lippo Group malls, almost all tenants. Grab, is now available in many “shelter” specifically made for GrabCar and GrabBike in all Lippo Group malls.
