Blaast Reaches 10k Downloads, Attracts Local Developer Community

At the end of 2011, Blaast mobile platform began to open access for general users, especially for low-end mobile users (Nokia, etc). Although Blaast only did soft launch and released as beta version, but it has reportedly been downloaded for more than 10,000 times with the majority of the downloaders from Indonesia.

The Finnish mobile cloud platform is now working with carrier XL for the app distribution. Until now Blaast only can be used by XL customers and no information yet about the availability for other providers. Blaast is first launched in Indonesia because of the substantial market of low-end mobile device, a perfect market test-bed for these types of mobile platform.

Their strategy to attract third-party developers in order to develop Blaast applications is arguably successful. One of Blaast representative in Indonesia stated that they currently have a community of more than 1000 local developers who are ready to develop on top of  Blaast platform.

Blaast was established in 2010 in Finland, and backed by high profile investors such as Ambient Sound Investments, Veturi Venture Accelerator, Steve Blank and Pekka Vartiainen, a former Nokia VP.
