Bandung-based smart accommodation startup, Bobobox, today (3/5), announces Pra-Series A funding from Alpha JWC Ventures, Genesia Ventures, and three hidden investors with undisclosed value. It’s to be used for service expansion in all over Indonesia within the next two years.
Founded in 2017, Bobobox provides pods, bed capsules that offers convenience and calming atmosphere for customers at affordable price. The pods are including an app to control gate access, lamp adjusting, safety feature, bluetooth speaker, and air conditioner.
Bobobox presents as a game changer that focuses on millennials/ travelers market in need for convenience and easy at affordable price. Using the technology in pods, Bobobox answered the needs of space, safety, and accommodation of affordable hostel.
“We aim to be the biggest chain accommodation in Indonesia by 2020 with more than 200 locations. Properties are owned or managed by Bobobox. We’re now planning to build new property around Jakarta, Bogor, Bali, and Yogyakarta,” Bobobox’s Co-Founder, Antonius Bong said.
Previously, Alpha JWC Ventures and Ganesha Ventures are involved in Bobobox funding in mid-2018. Bobobox is expected to continue developing, particularly in hospitality industry revolution in Indonesia.

We believe within the next two years, Bobobox will achieve their target to be the fastest growing pods service in Indonesia supported by technology which going to create hospitality industry revolution,” Alpha JWC Ventures’ Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Chandra Tjan said.
Bobobox’s Co-founder, Indra Gunawan explained that Bobobox started to offer single bed pods this year. Previously, they just offered king size bed. In addition, they will form some new partnerships, and create opportunity for frenchise.
“”We also renovate the current hotels. Unlike the other hospitality SaaS which only provides branding, we also help independent hotels with pods, system, even marketing. Trial project has done and we’re to expand with this model,” he added.
