DKI Jakarta’s Local Government Prepares 30 Billion Rupiah for the Smart City Project in 2015

DKI Jakarta local government has just taken a new step to realize its concept of Smart City Jakarta by launching an interactive website that can be accessed here. To support the realization of the concept this year, the govermment is reportedly ready to spend up to Rp 30 billion.

Being officially launched by DKI Jakarta’s Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama last December, the website is now ready to serve citizens of Jakarta. The Smart City Jakarta website is a web-based user-generated app that curates every single input by the people delivered through Qlue, Waze, and Twitter. Citizens may also report and patrol traffic jams, crimes, natural disasters, violations, and sanitation problems through location-based images.

With this platform, people are not only able to exchange information, but also to report any inconvenience related to public services directly to the responsible departments through its Public Opinion Fast Response app which has been supported by 3000 CCTVs all around Jakarta that will be on 24/7.

So far, the platform is optimized for desktop, with its mobile app being prepared to be ready anytime soon, along with the integration of six main concerns of the government (public transportation, public utilities, health, sanitation, tax, and local government) within the general operation centre.

To support the project, DKI Jakarta local government is ready to invest up to Rp 30 billion this year. According to Smart City Jakarta’s Technical Director Alberto Ali, as being reported by FutureGov, 60% of the money would go to the establishment of supporting infrastructure, while the rest 40% will be spent on operational necessities and human resources.
