Echelon 2012 is looking for potential 50 Asia startups to be given the opportunity to do an exhibition at Startup Marketplace Echelon 2012. 10 of the best 50 startups will also get a chance to pitch in front of panelists and audience at Echelon 2012 event on June 11 – 12, 2012 at the University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore.
To select the 50 startups, Echelon 2012 holds an event called Satellites. This year, Satellites will be held in six cities in Asia namely Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei and Tokyo. In Jakarta, Satellites will be held on April 7, 2012. The venue has not been decided yet.
Registration to join Satellites can be done on this link. Online registration will be open until March 31, 2012. To simplify the registration process, the organizer follows One-sentence Pitch format introduced by Adeo Ressi from Founders Institute. Several candidates will be chosen from the registered participants and will be invited to do a presentation at the Satellites event.
Last year, Satellites Indonesia presented 10 startups for pitching. Among them, PriceArea was voted winner of audience’s choice. Together with Bouncity and SixReps, PriceArea pitched at the Echelon 2011.
Echelon is the largest startup event in Asia organized by e27. Echelon 2012 is the third time Echelon was held. e27 said that Echelon, with Startup Marketplace (last year it was named Startup Launchpad) as the main event, is the best opportunity for startups to meet with investors, IT companies, government agencies, media and society at large. By participating in Startup Marketplace, startup will has the opportunity to acquire not only funding but also opportunities for cooperation and promotion of the media at regional scale.
In addition to Startup Marketplace, Echelon 2012 will also be filled with a variety of workshops and presentation as well as keynote from startup figures. Although the figures who will deliver the keynote and be the judges on this event are yet to be confirmed, Echelon 2012 has written names such as Hugh Mason (JFDI Asia), Michael Smith (Spuul), Jeffrey Paine (Founders Institute), Vincent Lauria (Golden Gate Ventures) and Danny Oei Wirianto (Merah Putih Inc.).
