Evolitera Establishes Cooperation with Scoop

DailySocial readers must know the two names Scoop and Evolitera. Both of them have been discussed on DailySocial many times. Scoop is developed by Apps Foundry and recently released iPod and iPhone version after previously available for iPad version. Lately, Evolitera presents with new appearance (again), they changed the latest appearance since last July (web).

Some days ago, I tried Scoop application for iPod and see there is a book from Evolitera in the digital book collection or content offered by Scoop. From the information I got from email, Eduardus Christmas, Evolitera’s founder and CEO explained that the cooperation with Scoop has been started since August 2011.

Their collaboration is on the premium content from Evolitera now is available and can be bought on Scoop. When I browse Evolitera’s content on Scoop, the price is around $0.99 to $1.99. There are only 30 digital books from Evolitera available on Scoop. Eduardus explained that “we plan to have thousands books, but the selling will be gradual. We also pay attention to the book genre in every release”.

It is quite interesting for me, because the writer’s names also written there. You will know that the book is published by Evolitera after you see the information detail of the digital book, so the writer will also be promoted. Unfortunately, Eduardus did not explain the presentation system. He only explained that the sharing system is the common system applied for in-app purchase. Eduardus also explained that the non-fiction books’ purchasing is better than the fiction ones.

As a company, Evolitera also made changes. Now, Evolitera is the subsidiary of PT Enervolution (ENVO) which work on iOS application development and it is the first Eduardus’ startup. Evolitera has two monetizing strategies; the advertisement on the website and premium content on Scoop.

The development of the cooperation between Evolitera and Scoop in the future will be categorize ‘Books by Evolitera’ but it’s still in the agreement stage, therefore, this category hasn’t available on Scoop and will be launched soon. The emerging of this category is the product of exclusive cooperation of Evolitera and Scoop.

Eduardus also explained about the reasons why they do exclusive cooperation with Scoop “Because we see that Scoop has good market in iOS”. Evolitera actually had a plan to develop their own application, however considering the existing competition in which there are already many similar players, they decided to cooperate with Scoop.

Evolitera hasn’t considered other alternative platform, at least for Android. One of the reasons is the payment system and the willingness to buy is not good enough in Indonesia. This reason is based on the Evolitera market research.

There are some interesting books published by Evolitera on Scoop, especially for non-fiction digital books. Unfortunately, the book cover is not interesting enough. It will be better if they pay attention also to the books’ cover. It is true that content is the most important but cover (although they are digital books) plays important rules.

Eduardus and Evolitera with the ENVO is also maintaining the cooperation for other development. The information about the cooperation is not available yet. However, the further development about the cooperation will be updated on Dailysocial as soon as we got the information.
