Go-Jek Introduces Go-Viet in Vietnam and GET in Thailand

Go-Jek officially announces operational in Vietnam (Go-Viet) and Thailand (GET) with local entity for the first batch of its international expansion in Southeast Asia. Both companies are under local founder, supported by insights, skills, technology, and investment from Go-Jek.

Go-Viet will enter a beta testing stage in July. It involves some drivers and consumers, before going fully launched in several months. GET is going to follow, due to consulting process that is on progress with local authorities, including government, driver partners, and consumers.

In the beginning, both companies will provide ride-hailing service and logistics, later to be followed by food ordering & delivery and electronic payment. The next target are Singapore and the Philippines.

Nadiem Makarim, Go-Jek’s CEO and Founder said, the company has a strategy to combine world-class technology developed by Go-Jek through skills, experience, and deep market knowledge of local team to build a business which truly understands what consumers need.

“We believe each local team has the knowledge and expertise to ensure business success in Vietnam and Thailand. They use a different brand, but work in line with the values which brought Go-Jek as the market leader in Indonesia,” he said in the official statement.

Nguyen Vu Duc, Go-Viet’s CEO and Co-Founder added, “Go-Jek’s support is very ideal for us, not only because the technology and skill in this business, but also the same principle we share, it’s the desire to bring positive impact for the public through improving the living standard and income, as well as increasing SMEs business scale.”

Pinya Nittayakasetwat, CEO and Co-Founder of GET added, “Go-Jek succeeded in becoming the first unicorn to grow in Indonesia because they’re capable to use technology as a solution to the most difficult challenge in the country. GET team is inspired by the way companies twist their daily problems into business opportunities, also improving the living standard of millions.”

The international expansion was going through months of planning after the last Go-Jek investment round from Astra International, Warburg Pincus, KKR, Meituan, Tencent, Google, Temasek, and others. $500 million (about Rp7.1 trillion) is allocated for international expansion along with the company’s strategy to expand in Southeast Asia.
