Groupon Indonesia Celebrates Second Anniversary, Gives Away Prizes

On Tuesday Groupon Indonesia announced its second anniversary celebration and invited members of the press to discuss the latest numbers, achievements, and milestones, as well as to expand the awareness of the company and its business. The anniversary recognizes the origin of the company which started out as a Groupon clone called Disdus, which was acquired by Groupon in April 2011. The company is handing out vouchers and special deals throughout the month to celebrate its birthday, which actually falls on August 10.

The celebration was put on hold until September out of respect for the Ramadan month as well as the week-long Eid holiday which happened in August. Groupon Indonesia CEO Ferry Tenka said that because the event had been planned to last for the entire month, “we’ve decided to postpone celebrations until September so everyone can participate.”

Quizzes and prizes will be delivered through Groupon Indonesia’s Facebook and Twitter accounts until the 9th of September after which the company will run its main birthday events which comprise of 99 Event, Birthday Wishes and Photo Contest.

99 Event is a promo period in which all of Groupon’s promos will be priced at Rp 99,000 from the 17th of September until the end of the month. Groupon Indonesia currently has over 1000 merchant partners, many of which will participate in the promo.

Birthday Wishes is a Groupon microsite which will be launched on 10 September for Groupon’s customers and fans who wish to deliver birthday messages to Groupon. The photo contest is being held throughout the month and winners will be notified on 5 October.
