MPLIK Deployed to Several Institutions in Indonesia

Although it has the name of Mobil Pusat Layanan Internet Kecamatan (MPLIK) – District Internet Service Car, this car with Internet is not only handed over to districts in Indonesia. Several institutions are reported to receive MPLIK from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Educational institutions are among those that receive MPLIKs. In two different occasions, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics handed over MPLIKs to the Naval Academy in Surabaya and the Universitas Sembilan Belas November (USN) in North Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi.

According to AntaraNews, MPLIK for the Naval Academy was directly presented by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Tifatul Sembiring, last Tuesday. The donation is received by the Governor of Naval Academy, Real Admiral Herry Setianegara.

The MPLIK, according to Naval Academy’s Governor, will be utilizised to support the e-learning program developed by the Naval Academy. With MPLIK and the e-learning system, the cadets and permanent members of the Naval Academy are expected to be able to keep updated on the events happening in the outside world and use it as a learning material, reference and information to support learning process.

On the same occasion, the Minister also hands over MPLIK to the East Java Communications and Information Technology Service and the Surabaya Kwartir Branch of Scout Movement.

On last Thursday, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through the Department of Transportation Southeast Sulawesi Province, LM Hanafi, handed over a unit of MPLIK to the North Kolaka USN. This hand over is the second time because USN has two campus in Kolaka and North Kolaka.

To make sure the MPLIK runs smoothly, the department of transportation also provides operational technique training for USN to operate the Internet vans.

MPLIK is a part of the program by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics to connect the whole country to the Internet. The target is all the districts in Indonesia will be connected to the Internet by the end of this year through District Internet Service Centers as well as MPLIKs.
