On February 24, Navitime Transit Jakarta added Bahasa as one of languages it’s app supports. Navitime Transit Jakarta is an app dedicated to KRL Commuter Line’s consumers to let them arranging their trip via iOS and Android-based devices. Regarding the updates, we had a session with Navitime’s General Manager Yudai Mori.
Basically, Navitime Transit Jakarta provides information of trip routes available in KRL Commuter Jabodetabek. The app serves a complete, well-organized information of routes which are similar to the one attached on the actual train. This app’s users will not find difficulties in reading the map this app presents.
Regarding the updates, Mori stated that it would only about the inclusion of Bahasa at the moment. He promised to fix the location feature as soon as possible, as we found difficulties while attempting to access it.
He added that Navitime has yet planned to go for the app’s monetization. There are two versions of the Android-based Navitime Transit Jakarta app, which are the standard version and pro version (free from ads).
As for Navitime’s market expansion and user acquisition, Mori commented, “For the time being, we are learning a number of markets to make plans. In every area, we aim to fit the products with the market (product-market fit).”
He further explained that to do so, Navitime’s going to see the number of monthly active users as its indicator. “Our Key Performance Index would be our monthly active users. We go for number. Since April 2014, the number of our monthly active users in Asia has been eight times bigger,” he said.
At the moment, Navitime is conducting researches in numerous cities in nine different countries, namely London (England), Bangkok (Thailand), Macau, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, and San Francisco (the U.S), Shanghai (China), Singapore, Taipei (Taiwan), and Jakarta (Indonesia).
Mori revealed that the research will be focused in Asia. He also stated that after the research goes, Navitime is going to launch two new apps in South Korea and Manila.
About Navitime’s plans for Indonesia in 2015, Mori confidently claimed, “We plan on becoming the top app for public transportation in Indonesia by this year.”
With a number of local apps that target the same segment, such as Info KRL, Commuter, and Sikremut, there are tons of homework to accomplish for Navitime Jakarta Transit to be one of the best public transportation-based app in Indonesia.
