PlasaMSN announces video content partnership with SCTV and Viki

Yesterday online news portal PlasaMSN officially announced that they’re partnering with video provider startup Viki and local TV station SCTV. PlasaMSN is a joint venture company between Microsoft and Telkom Indonesia through one of its subsidiary Metranet.

Through an event in Jakarta last night, Microsoft Director Andreas Diantoro also announced that PlasaMSN’s content will be integrated with Windows Live and Skype. The media party / press conference event was attended by Microsoft Indonesia director, representative from Microsoft Advertising, Viki and Telkom Indonesia. The party itself is a place for Microsoft to introduce the news portal to media agencies, future partners and clients of PlasaMSN.

One interesting thing that Diantoro mentioned was PlasaMSN’s video content that attract significant traction from readers. Diantoro mentioned that PlasaMSN’s video content is one of the most downloaded content, therefore it’s critical to support more video content by adding more partners, in this case SCTV and Viki.

As the latest newcomer in the online news portal scene, PlasaMSN is bringing its full force of dedicated editorial team and striking partnerships with local content owners to add as much as content as possible to the portal. Although it will soon be integrated with Windows Live and Skype, it will also integrate the news portal with other Microsoft online products relevant to content sharing and social experiences.
