Zalora CEO Nadiem Makarim to resign (corrections)

We just received news that Nadiem Makarim, Indonesia lead for Rocket Internet‘s Zalora is resigning from his position. He’s been with the German-based company since the end of last year helping them setting up the first team and also launching 5 clone websites for the last 3 months.

Nadiem leads the operation for all sites: Zalora, Lazada, FoodPanda, Wimdu and Pinspire. His focus was more the e-commerce sites Zalora and Lazada, while the others are just starting to build the team. Nadiem oversees all Zalora operations in Indonesia and reports directly to a Rocket Internet representative in Jakarta. Nadiem is also the CEO of Go-jek, a Jakarta-based transportation solution who recently focuses on logistics and Go-jek is also a logistic partner for Zalora and Lazada.

We don’t have information as to the reason behind his resignation and who will replace him, but at this stage of the company they need to find a new guy as soon as possible. Looking at the pace of the company build its team, they should come up with a new guy to fill in Nadiem’s position very soon. We also heard that Nadiem will fully leave the company in a few weeks, taking care of the company during the transitions in Zalora.

correction :

The name is Nadiem, not Nadeem, and he’s the CEO of Zalora and not Rocket Internet. We apologize for the misleading previous news.
