50 Cities Announced for International Space Apps Challenge 2013

NASA has announced that it will be holding its second International Space Apps Challenge on 20-21 April 2013 which will take place in 50 cities across the planet on all continents as well as in space at the International Space Station. DailySocial, working together with the US Embassy as we did last year, will host the event in Jakarta and will be inviting participants to register for the event in March.

Jakarta Siap Menyambut International Space Apps Challenge

DailySocial, berkolaborasi dengan Kedutaaan Ameria Serikat untuk Indonesia dan Pusat Kebudayan Amerika – @america akan mengadakan acara International Space Apps Challenge pada bulan April, tepatnya tanggal 21 – 22 April 2012. International Space Apps Challenge merupakan sebuah acara untuk ‘menantang’ para pengembang perangkat lunak dalam menghadirkan program atau aplikasi yang bisa memecahkan masalah dan tantangan yang dapat membantu NASA serta ilmuwan di seluruh dunia dalam memecahkan berbagai isu global. Acara ini diselenggarakan secara global di lebih dari 20 kota di dunia serta di International Space Station yang sedang mengitari planet.

Dengan diadakannya acara International Space Apps Challenge ini kurang dari dua minggu lagi, kami berbicang dengan Alice Llewellyn dari tim penyelenggara pusat untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang acara, tujuan acara, serta apa yang mereka harapkan dengan penyelenggaraan kompetisi ini. Jakarta Heats Up for International Space Apps Challenge

DailySocial, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States in Indonesia and with American cultural center @america, are holding International Space Apps Challenge on April 21-22. The Space Apps Challenge is an event for software developers to come up with programs or applications that solve particular challenges and tasks that may help NASA and scientists worldwide in figuring out various global issues. The event is being held globally across more than twenty cities as well as on the International Space Station currently orbiting the planet.

With the International SpaceApps Challenge coming up in just under two weeks, we spoke with Alice Llewellyn from the core organizing team to reveal more about the event, the motivation behind it, and what is expected from having held this competition. We also asked why Jakarta was chosen as one of the host cities when Indonesia has not been known to be a space-oriented nation. The interview is available after the jump.
