Publishing giant Gramedia launched Gramediana this week, an online marketplace for Indonesian publications. For the moment, Gramediana only provides an e-commerce facility for visitors who wish to purchase ebooks and printed works on demand. It’s a lot like NulisBuku, a startup that pioneered online self-publishing in Indonesia.

[Manic Monday] Books Might Disappear, But The Words In It Won’t
When was the last time you read a book? How many times have you read a book for the past month, say compared to, the amount of articles you read on the internet, or from social media feeds? I probably read only one book a month, and usually science fiction. Everything else is gobbled up in small bites through articles on the Internet here and there. I don’t think I have enough bandwidth in my head to keep up reading more books, either by quantity or quality or genre. I still buy books and try to collect books by my favorite authors, but even my reading habit has started to move over to Kobo.

Android Market Menjadi Google Play
Wetick.com, Online Library from Bandung
Business and enthusiast wise, book is a big industry, although in Indonesia it still far from enough (compared to the number of people and published books are only average 7.000 titles annually). However if we take a good look at it in reality, saying that our reading interest is low is still far fetched.
Internet based service bridging technology especially with printed publishing is still trending, both text based books and book with images like comic or photography books. Some choose to bridge book rental process, among others is Wetick.com.
Book rental process is still popular in Indonesia, starting from rental places up to library, there’s always some in every city although still lack in numbers. People’s behavior is they rather borrow than buy books – although it will still cost them some money – is one of the opportunity Wetick.com grabs.
New Look and Logo of BukuQ.com
The service for books lover, BukuQ, changed their appearance and logo. DailySocial wrote about this service last December, with the appearance that also have changed since this service was first developed, due to changes in technology used by BukuQ.
Display and services in the December article and the recent one are still in private beta stage, but this time the BukuQ display shows the better update, at least has the design elements that related to the world of books, giving the feel of a sufficient support by the facilities they provide.
