A research company, Ovum, predicted that in 2016, mobile phone connection will reach 4.2 billion users. In the publication, stated that 72% of them will be dominated by users from China, India, and Indonesia. They totally contribute 3 billion mobile connection – they will take 38% from the total of the year. As comparison, according to Internet World Stats total citizen of China, India, and Indonesia is around 2.8 billion people in which 625 million of them are internet users.

The interesting thing is although it has important influence, the revenue from voice call is decreasing in significant number and in 2016 the revenue from internet data is not only as supplement (added value) for voice call, but substitute it. In 2016, data service is predicted to reach $145 billion, while the revenue from voice call in this period will only around $193 billion – decreasing almost $2 billion from what is predicted this year.

Perusahaan riset Ovum memprediksikan bahwa di tahun 2016, koneksi telepon mobile akan mencapai angka 4.2 miliar. Dalam publikasinya, disebutkan bahwa 72% di antaranya akan dikuasai oleh 3 negara berpenduduk terbesar, Cina, India, dan Indonesia. Secara total ketiganya menyumbang 3 miliar koneksi mobile — itu pula sudah mengambil porsi 38% dari total kepemilikan secara global di tahun tersebut. Sebagai perbandingan, menurut Internet World Stats total penduduk di Cina, India, dan Indonesia saat ini mencapai sekitar 2.8 miliar jiwa di mana 625 juta di antaranya merupakan pengguna Internet.

Yang menarik, meskipun tetap memegang peranan penting, pendapatan dari percakapan (voice call) akan menurun secara signifikan dan di tahun 2016 pendapatan dari data Internet tidak lagi menjadi sekedar suplemen (added value) bagi voice call tetapi sudah mulai menggantikannya. Pada tahun 2016, diperkirakan pendapatan dari layanan data bisa mencapai $145 miliar, sementara pendapatan dari voice call di periode yang sama tinggal $193 miliar — turun hampir $2 miliar dari prediksi pendapatan tahun ini.
