Why You Shouldn’t Run Beta Software Unless You Know What You’re Doing

Apple announced iOS 7 last week at Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco along with OS X Mavericks and at the same time released the first developer beta versions of both operating systems. Neither OS will be available publicly until later this year but of course, there are people who just couldn’t wait. If you have no business testing unfinished software, you really shouldn’t install a beta software. Let me tell you why.

Dear Koprol dan Yahoo!,

Kalian berdua telah bekerja sama selama lebih dari satu tahun dan Koprol sendiri telah ada selama lebih dari 2,5 tahun, namun sayangnya kita belum melihat adopsi layanan utama kalian oleh pihak ketiga hanya karena kurangnya akses ke API kalian. Ada apa sih? Kenapa kalian tidak berbenah diri lalu selesaikan itu API supaya bisa dipakai banyak pihak?

Banyak fitur yang dimiliki Yahoo! Koprol hadir lebih dahulu daripada Foursquare. Orang-orang di Foursquare benar-benar mengejar berbagai fasilitas dilayanan mereka yang notabene telah kalian kembangkan selama 2 tahun ke belakang. Beberapa diantaranya adalah hosting gambar, threaded comments, nearby venues, profil bisnis, dan ulasan tempat.

A love letter for Yahoo! Koprol

Dear Koprol and Yahoo,

You guys have been working together for over a year and Koprol has been around for over 2.5 years but we haven’t seen major adoption of your service by third party apps and services thanks to your lack of open API. What is going on? Why can’t you guys get your shit together so you can finalize and release your damn API?

Many of your feature releases are ahead of Foursquare. Those guys are actually catching up with a lot of the stuff that your team put together in the past 2 years, these include image hosting, threaded comments, nearby venues, business profiles, and venue reviews.

So why aren’t you throwing your weight around?
