International Space Apps Challenge 2013 Was Bigger, Better, Greater, and More

The hackathon weekend for the 2013 International Space Apps Challenge has concluded globally on Monday in spectacular fashion. Participating venues ballooned from the initial 50 venues to 83 across 44 countries, from 2000 participants in 2012 to more than 9000 this year. The number of Indonesia’s on-site participants also grew more than twice with far more project submissions compared to last year’s event.

50 Cities Announced for International Space Apps Challenge 2013

NASA has announced that it will be holding its second International Space Apps Challenge on 20-21 April 2013 which will take place in 50 cities across the planet on all continents as well as in space at the International Space Station. DailySocial, working together with the US Embassy as we did last year, will host the event in Jakarta and will be inviting participants to register for the event in March.

Inilah Para Pemenang Jakarta International Space Apps Challenge

Setelah 24 jam yang melelahkan, pemenang dari Jakarta International Space Apps Challenge akhirnya diumumkan di @america pada hari Minggu kemarin. Delapan peserta yang terdiri dari tim dan individu mempresentasikan proyek mereka, termasuk satu peserta yang berasal dari Singapura. Walaupun beberapa peserta mengatakan bahwa tantangan yang ada cukup sulit, namun mereka berusaha dengan keras dan mendapatkan bantuan dari peserta lain di seluruh dunia untuk memastikan bahwa mereka dapat melakukan yang terbaik dalam menemukan solusi teknologi atas tantangan yang diberikan.

Dari delapan proyek, dua akan dikirimkan untuk mengikuti kompetisi global Space Apps Challenge dan akan diadu dengan proyek dari 24 negara lain. Mengingat tantangan yang ada serta keterbatasan waktu, maka tim yang mengikuti acara ini hanya diharapkan untuk mempresentasikan prototipe serta kemajuan yang telah mereka capai dari proyek yang dikerjakan.

Over 24 hours and Eight Projects Later, Jakarta’s International Space Apps Challenge Winners Announced

After a grueling 24 hours, the winners of Jakarta’s International Space Apps Challenge were announced at @america on Sunday. Eight teams and individuals had presented on stage at the venue including one participant who flew in from Singapore. While some had remarked that the challenges had been particularly difficult, they pressed on and sought assistance from others around the world to make sure they can do the utmost to find a technological solution to the tasks at hand.

From the eight, two will be submitted to the global Space Apps Challenge competition and judged against others from the 24 other cities around the world. Given the scope of the challenges and the limited time provided, the teams were expected only to present prototypes and the progress that they’ve achieved.
