While the block doesn’t seem to be affecting all customers, a number of complaints had arose and the move was confirmed by Telkom CIO and director of innovation and IT solutions and strategic portfolio Indra Utoyo.

Sebagai tindak lanjut tersingkapnya tabir informasi dari New York Times bahwa pemerintah Australia memiliki akses untuk menyusup ke jaringan komunikasi milik Telkomsel dan Indosat, Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika (Menkominfo) Tifatul Sembiring mengeluarkan peringatan bagi kedua operator tersebut dan mengancam akan menutup kedua perusahaan tersebut jika terbukti berperan aktif dalam proses penyusupan tersebut. Telkomsel sejauh ini merupakan operator telekomunikasi terbesar di Indonesia dengan 120 juta pelanggan dan Indosat dengan 50 juta pelanggan.
Following the revelations by the New York Times that the Australian government has access to snoop in on phone communications made through Indonesia’s Telkomsel and Indosat cellular networks, Indonesia’s minister for communications Tifatul Sembiring issued a warning on Tuesday that both telco companies may face shutdown if found to be active parties in the breach. Telkomsel is the leading mobile company in the country with over 120 million subscribers and Indosat is among the top three with over 50 million subscribers.

Saya tahu, pada akhirnya hari seperti akan datang, hari yang paling saya takuti. Untuk hal ini memang akan selalu dramatis, ketika saya harus mengatakan bahwa pemerintah Indonesia melalui menteri komunikasinya mengumumkan rencana untuk memblokir situs-situs yang mendistribusikan musik bajakan (MP3 file). Jangan salah, saya mendukung upaya pemerintah untuk menyelamatkan musisi Indonesia, tetapi ketika mereka mengumumkan untuk memblokir situs berbagi 4shared, itu cerita yang berbeda.
Dikutip dari Okezone, saat menghadiri sebuah acara di Bandung, Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika, Tifatul Sembiring menyatakan bahwa kementriannya belum memblokir situs apapun setelah pengumuman resmi inisiasi pemblokiran situs penyedia download musik bajakan beberapa minggu lalu dan bahwa mereka akan berfokus pada pemblokiran situs besar seperti 4shared.

I’d knew this day would happen eventually, the day I fear the most. And yes, I am being dramatic when I have to say that Indonesian government through its minister of communication announces plans to block websites that distributes pirated music (MP3) files. Don’t get me wrong, I support this effort by the government to save Indonesian musicians, but when they announce to block sharing site 4shared, it’s a different story.
