Touchten Sealed Series C Funding from GREE

Today (7/7), prominent Jakarta-based mobile game studio Touchten officially announced an undisclosed Series C funding led by GREE, Inc. that it just secured. GREE as the lead investor in this round will join 500 Startups to be members of Touchten’s executive board.

“Our objective is to be the biggest game company in Indonesia, makin Indonesia proud through our games, and bring happiness to millions of people around the world. GREE”s investment at Touchten indicates that we’re doing the right thing. This is the initial phase of a journey, and when a company as big as GREE lends a hand, we better take it,” said Touchten’s CEO Anton Soeharyo.

The interesting part is that the funding is injected by GREE, not its investment arm, GREE Ventures.

After successfully rising money through Kickstarter last year, Touchten continues the positive trend by launching several products and strategic partnership this year. During a DScussion session with Anton Soeharyo, he revealed that the vast growing technology ecosystem will open more opportunities in mobile game industry.

This momentum is utilized by Touchten to involve 9GAG in a number of projects, which make its products viral enough on internet. The team innovated through Touchten Platform, which reportedly has gathered 50,000 redeem transaction. Later on, Touchten plans on adding more partnering merchants, joining Uber, cellphone credit, and Pond’s.

“Our focus [in using the investment] is to be the best game developer in Indonesia. We will pursue that dream by recruiting the best talents in the country, partnering with other game developers in Indonesia and convincing them to launch their game on Touchten Platform, both local and global, with the help of GREE of course,” told Soeharyo to our team.

Pokelabo, Inc.’s CEO (100% owned by GREE) and GREE, Inc.’s Vice President Yuta Maeda commented, “We are Anton and his team [Touchten]’s biggest fans. We’re highly impressed with their track record and what they’ve built in Indonesia. We want to assist them to become the best game company in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.”
